Hi y’all
The chicks and chucks on the Chick Wagon Band are having a blast. Our calendar is fairly full with Duo and full band performances through the summer.
We hope you have a safe and fun summer! Perhaps we’ll see you at one of the farmers markets or other events we’re playing at or at the Loghouse Pub or Luxton Fall Fair!!
Cheers
Karen, Darla, Doc, Randy

Hi All.
We wanted to let you know about some changes in the Chick Wagon Band members. After several years in the band, our Hi-Hat Cat has taken a step back to become our backup drummer. Randy Anguish has joined Chick Wagon Band as our main drummer until the fall.
We are sad to inform you that, JC , our rhythm guitar player for a couple years, has left our wagon to pursue other music directions. We wish her well.
Chick Wagon Band is now Darla, Karen, Marty, and Randy. Hope to see you at one of our upcoming performances!
All the best
CWB

It’s hard to believe 2009 is nearly over. When the holidays approach, I tend to start reflecting and remembering the good ol’ days… I remember the thrill of flying to Nashville like it was a couple of weeks ago – yet it was 2008! Or singing ‘out loud’ the first time – and that was 1998! I also recall hearing about Santa leaving the North Pole and heading to our house – and the excitement of hearing his sleigh on the roof! [Thanks to Dad tossing stuff up there]. Even that doesn’t seem all that long ago. But, trust me; I’m now at an age where a man in a red suit stopping by is more disturbing than it is exciting. It occurred to me recently that the proverbial “some day” had arrived while I wasn’t paying attention. I think it’s time I stop planning and begin doing my “bucket list” stuff. Maybe take some risks. That sounds like a New Year’s resolution, hey? I don’t usually make resolutions, but making one for 2010 could be a first step outside my comfort zone… To family & friends, near & far, Merry Christmas!! And may 2010 bring each of you good health, great wealth, and much happiness.

Hello friends and family!
We have had a busy year so far. We have enjoyed a variety of performances and had several other offers that our calendars didn’t allow us to undertake! The duo has really enjoyed playing the various farmer’s markets in the West Shore and Moss Street.
We’re going to take some time now to write some new songs in preparation for our first booking of 2010 - The Paisley Restaurant (Duo Band).
By the way, Darla just celebrated a milestone birthday… join the rest of the band in wishing her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Stay happy and healthy.

I love guitars. I bought my first nearly 30 years ago… so one would expect I’d be a Guitar God by now. Truth is, I’m still a Guitar Groupie. Learning to play an instrument can take a while. In fact, I sold that first guitar after carrying it around for 25 years –and I still couldn’t play! Six guitars later, I’m hoping that being a mature student (referring to attitude, not age) will be an advantage – I have embarked on a quest to conquer the wooden beast once and for all! And when my a-ha moment happens (and my fingers don’t hurt as much), I will proudly parade my newfound musical prowess on a CWB stage! But just for the record, being a singer is easier. –Darla

Wow what a year 2008 was for CWB. Martin (Rhythm Guitar) left CWB and we saw the additions of JC (Rhythm Guitar) and Doc (Bass). We were very busy as the full band at the Providence Farm Hoedown, Luxton Fall Fair and others. As a duo, Darla and Karen made the rounds of the farmers markets playing Luxton Station Market, James Bay Market, Colwood Market and Metchosin Farmers’ Market. The highlight of the year was our involvement with the Providence Farm Hoedown - a fundraiser to enable to folks at Providence Farm to continue their good work.
Sept 2008 saw Darla and Karen headed to Nashville for the first time. Wow. What a place. We attended the NSAI Songposium - er, what’s that you ask? Well a conference for songwriters. Everything from how to write to how to sing, play guitar, record and market your songs to publishing companies. We learned a ton. Still don’t think we’ve truly absorbed it all. Trips to the Grand Ole Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame and honky tonking…Yeehaw!
2009 is shaping up to be a busy year of performances and much time planned to songwrite!
