Darla “Diva D” Cooper – Lead vocals and Guitar

Darla began singing professionally in 1999 when she formed celebrity tribute act, The Counterfeit Judds with Candy Little. In 2000, the duo were selected from >200 auditions to appear on an episode of the dick clark television production “Your Big Break”. As “Wynonna” with the Counterfeit Judds and as a solo act, Darla has shared the stage with the top tribute shows in Canada including a tour with two internationally acclaimed tribute shows, Legends of Rock N Roll and Legends Alive!. This resulted in stops at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival (July 2001 & 2006), Calgary Stampede (July 2003), and Mickey’s place in Orlando, Florida.

A BC public servant by day, Darla produces a celebrity tribute show with a cast and crew of ONLY BC government employees. Since its inception in 2002, the PopStars! show has contributed over $51,000 in proceeds to local community charities.

Darla’s band experience began in 2003 with the launch of, DC Express.  The group performed at several Victoria venues, including the Esquimalt Inn, Country Rose and Luxton Pro Rodeo.   In 2006, after attending a songwriting workshop, Darla co-wrote her first song with Kahuna Hatch and Joan Enguita, of California.   Darla is a member of SOCAN and Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI)

Karen “Kahuna” Hatch – Lead Guitar and Vocals

Karen has been playing guitar for more than 35 years, focusing on lead guitar for the last 20.  She has vast experience performing on stage, live radio and TV, at intimate coffee houses and folk clubs, at local venues, festivals and in the recording studio. She has also toured internationally.  She has been a member of several bands in several genres including blues, bluegrass, folk and acoustic roots bands before joining The Chick Wagon Band. Previous bands include Southern Exposure, Marq Twang, Nothin’ But the Blues, Shades of Blue, and Lonesome Sirens.

Karen, along with Cheryl Fischer, formed the duo Fischer & Lee in 1996. The duo was described as ‘the Indigo Girls meets the Carter Family’ which reflected their musical influences of blues, bluegrass, country, and folk. They released Rise, in 1998 which was produced by Valdy and included original material. The CD sold several hundred copies and received air play on CBC, CFUV, 100.3 The Q and as far away as Texas.  A highlight performance for the band was opening act at a Valdy concert.  Task-Master K brings a unique lead guitar styling, energy, and humour to the stage and to Chick Wagon.

Randy “Animal” Anguish – Drums and Vocals

Randy has played in numerous bands over the years.   From his own band “Anguish” that played rock, to his current band the BSharps.   We welcome his humour and drivin’  beat to the Chick Wagon.    Ever watch the muppets?  Ya, we call him “Animal”.   Randy will be playing with us until end of September 2010, and perhaps beyond…

Marty “Doc” Dixon – Bass Guitar and Vocals

Doc taught himself to play six- and twelve-string guitar “many years ago”, in another life in Calgary. Gordon Lightfoot was his favourite.  After his Stampeders finally won a Grey Cup, he blew the dust off his cow-town roots and moved to Victoria.  Once there, he auditioned for and landed a spot in his first band, Pagan Blue, fronted by Bill Zaalberg of Double Diamond fame.

Since then, he has played with several groups, including Foot Patter, Shades of Blue, Take 3, and Diamond Jack. For the last few years, he has been playing both bass and six-string guitar with Lady and the Tramps, featuring vintage, country, and contemporary rock, and continues to perform solo and in ad hoc groups in open-stage performances.

Doc is very excited and pleased to have the opportunity to join CWB!  He enjoys being Grandpa to two young fillies, and making music with a bunch of chicks!

Catherine “Hi-Hat Cat” Robillard – Backup for Drums

By day, Catherine has been teaching middle school for ten years.  She was born and raised in eastern Canada where she was classically trained on piano. After enrolling son Ben in rock-n-roll school, she got enthusiastic about the program and soon converted to the drum kit and began learning along at the same time as son #2, Luke.  Daughter Suzanne makes a total three young ’uns at Cat’s house.  It soon became apparent that there were too many drummers at home, so Cat stepped out to join a local Victoria R&B band for a while. She was delighted when the opportunity came for her to hop aboard the Chick Wagon in 2005 where she was affectionately dubbed, “Hi-hat Cat”.
